UAE: Holiday for private sector employees participating in Papal Mass on Feb 5

Daijiworld Media Network - Abu Dhabi (MS)

Abu Dhabi, Jan 30: Employees working in private sector in UAE, who have the permits to participate in the Papal Mass, will be given a day's holiday on February 5. The Mass is scheduled take place at Zayed Sports City in the capital during the visit of the head of Roman Catholic Church.

In a statement given by the ministry of human resources and emiratisation of UAE on Wednesday, January 30, Pope Francis will be on a visit to UAE from February 3 to 5.

The ministry spokesperson said that this holiday is given to the concerned employees of the private sector in order to facilitate participation in the Mass.

This declaration of holiday shows the commitment of UAE in furthering its acceptance of all religions during the Year of Tolerance that is celebrated by the government of UAE.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces has invited Pope Francis, head of the Roman Catholic church to the country to propagate the inter-faith dialogue.

The Pope will also participate in the 'International Interfaith Meeting on Human Fraternity'. This is the first Papal visit of a Catholic Pope to the Arabian Peninsula, which exhibits the open mindedness of the UAE authorities in giving the constitutional right to all the residents in their country to practice their religion without any fear.

UAE is observing a National Tolerance Programme and the UAE Charter of Tolerance, Co-existence and Peace, which has boosted the tolerance and harmonious co-existence of people from almost 168 nationalities residing in the country.

This programmed is structured to further the values founded by the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyand and other founding fathers of UAE.

Drs. Pat and Marian Kennedy, the missionary Doctors came to UAE and started the first clinic in Al Ain in 1960 while 50% of the new born children were died, and 1/3 of the mothers died. The founder and ruler of UAE Al Shekh Zayed bin Sultan got medical care from the mission hospitals of Bahrain and Oman, thus opened the doors for the missionary doctors.

No electricity and air conditioning, but those divinely called doctors discarded their prestigious medical practice in Boston to serve the sick people of UAE.

Many of the current political leaders of UAE were born there. They do gratefully remember the charity work of the missionary doctors, thus showed that love towards the Christian expatriates from 200 countries of the world living in UAE. By the special grants, now the hospital Oasis is a very well known medical institution of UAE, like another Vellore Medical College hospital.

The mega royal welcome extended towards Pope Francis is a record breaking event; never given to any other head of the nation, thus honoring the 2.3 billion Christians of the world. GOD is going to bless UAE abundantly, we are going to watch that in the coming days.

What a kind and generous gesture on the part of the UAE government to declare a holiday which clearly shows shows the commitment of UAE in furthering its acceptance of all religions during the Year of Tolerance.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces is indeed kind and generous in his attitude.

Here, many have given mindless comments. The Arab countries never allowed any religion other than Islam for a long time. In many Arab countries even now you can practice only Islam. Only of late, UAE is opening up a little bit. This is a good sign. Fundamental Muslims are against this.
As far as India is concerned, we can practice any religion here or one is free not to practise any religion.

Arab countries are respecting all religions whereas our Indian Govt is 100 perdent opposite to it.

According to BJP only Hindu religion is acceptable in India and other religions are from out side and have no respect.

BJP is neglecting people from other religions other than Hinduism. They should learn from Arab countries in showing rrespect to other religions. Its good news that Pope is visiting Dubai. Being a leader of mass, it should be his prime duty to condemn brutual atrocities being carried out by Israeli agressors on innocent Palestinians.

    Shiju, Cannanore,
Your quote...Being a leader of mass, it should be Pope's prime duty to condemn brutal atrocities being carried out by Israeli aggressors on innocent Palestinians.

What about Muslim leaders responsibilities to condemn Boko Haram in African countries, Christians suffering from abduction, Church bomb attacks in Philippine and in Pakistan etc.

For you, may be it is like general comment, nothing to do with Islam or Terrorism has no religion or In every Religion there is terrorism etc. or may be, what they are doing is right, justifying what is happening in Iraq, Syria and Palestine etc..

Somehow, we justify what we are doing is right and all others, always doing only brutal or injustice. This is never ending story.

UAE has understood the significance of papa Francis how he has stood for refugees and marginalized poor people of the world.

It takes courage for the Pope to preach and practice and advise to his followers of majority Christians nations to accept refugees without religious bias.

Evan papa wanted to visit India where Modi govt has refused which is so sad to see such hypocracy has shown by BJP toward Papas visit.

God is good and will show India to invite Papa soon with a new govt will be elected in India soon.

MODI likes to visit America and Eurpoe like a hero but he doesn't like any Christian leaders visiting India like Pope Francis. Is he scared of Pope Francis?

Very good gesture by the UAE authorities. The Pope is the beacon of light, hope , love and peace to all the world. How sad that the Pope was able to visit our neighbouring countries but not invited to India. We all had a wish that our Pope could visit India and hopefully prayers can still make this wish happen. Pope Francis a true disciple of Christ.

I am sure, God will bless such country, the citizen and rulers. I wish similar gesture comes up in India for all religions soon. Instead of creating tension in the name of religion, let the Government here show greatness by such small acts to prove secularism which is today only a word used for boasting about in our country.
