Kundapur, Jan 17: In a tragic incident owner of a shop, who was facing financial difficulties, jumped from the bridge of a rivulet into the waterbody in a bid to kill himself. The youth is still missing. This incident occurred on Wednesday, January 16.
Praveen, a resident of Sangam near here, is the person who has jumped into the rivulet. His scooter is found parked on the bridge but his body is not yet found.
It is learnt that Praveen, who was owning a shop on by the road side of Sangam Anagalli road, had taken huge amount of loan from the bank. The bank had also served him notices several times to repay the loan. It is said that, Praveen was mentally upset due to the financial situation in his life and had called one of his friend on the morning of Wednesday and conveyed him that he is going to jump into the rivulet and kill himself.
Praveen's friend had immediately notified the town police station about the suicide bid of Praveen. The police had asked Praveen's friend to bring Praveen to the police station and they will councel him. However, before his friend could reach him, Praveen had left his scooter on the Sangam bridge and jumped into the rivulet. A resident of Tallu had seen the act of Praveen and informed the nearby petrol pump. When the locals arrived at the spot, they could see only the parked scooter of Praveen and he could not be traced.
Even the fire service personnel could not find the body of Praveen. The locals are believing that Praveen has indeed committed suicide. However, the police are investigating from the other angle also. They are not sure whether Praveen has killed himself or has left the scooter on the bridge and escaped somewhere in order to avoid the harassment of the bank.
A missing person case is registered in the name of Praveen in the town police station.
