Puttur, Jan 4: The political tussle that started between the BJP and its splinter group Swabhimani Vedike after the Puttur ex-MLA Shakuntala Shetty was denied the party ticket for a second term, has ended on a happy note. Honorary president of Swabhimani Vedike K Rama Bhat informed that the enmity between the Vedike and the BJP is a closed chapter.
He gave this clarification, while speaking with reporters, during his participation of a programme held held here on Saturday January 3.
Refusing to divulge details of the discussions he and others in the Vedike had with the RSS leaders and the state BJP leaders, he confined himself to issuing a clarification that political dispute between the two sides is a thing of the past. "Everything has ended on a happy note," he said.
It may be recalled, that ego clashes between the Swabhimane Vedike leaders and the Mangalore MP and BJP state BJP unit president D V Sadanand Gowda, who the Vedike suspects was behind the denial of ticket to Shakuntala Shetty, had snowballed into a major showdown between the two, with the Vedike even threatening to contest the next Loksabha election on its own.
