Bengaluru, Jan 15: After much dilly-dallying, chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, has cleared the appointment of Shidlaghatta Congress MLA, V Muniyappa, as his political secretary. Muniyappa's was one among several names recommended by the Congress high command for appointment to corporations and boards, and as parliamentary and political secretaries.
The names of M A Gopalaswamy whose name was cleared for parliamentary secretary, planning commission deputy chairman, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, Karnataka government's special representative at Delhi, Dr Ajai Singh, and V Muniyappa, whose name was recommended as political secretary to the chief minister, had been kept in abeyance.
JD(S) leaders and workers in general had opposed appointment of a Congress MLA as political secretary of Kumaraswamy, who is from JD(S). However, after lot of hesitation, the chief minister signed the appointment order of Muniyappa. With this, another issue that had given rise to friction between the coalition partners has been resolved.
