Mangaluru, Jan 15: "Many Highly revered senior artistes have build the art of Yakshagana through their unique contribution. Great achievers like Pulincha Ramiah Shetty have left their own footprint in Yakshagana and have won the hearts of the audience. As this tradition is alive today also, the number of audience for Yakshagana event is not reduced," said Palli Kishan Hegde, convener of Panchamelas and former member of Karanataka Bayalata Academy.

Kishan Hegde was speaking at 'Pulincha Samsmarane and Prashasti Pradana', programme organized in memory of Yakshagana Dashavatari, Late Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty by Pulincha Seva Pratistana of the city in the Late Kalladi Vittal Shetty dais built on the premises of Kallurti Daivastana of Chende Sri Karanika near Kashekodi Sri Venkatramana temple of Baltila village.

Three senior artistes were felicitated during the event. They were given Rs 25,000 in cash and titles and Pulincha award. Famour Bhagavatha Dinesh Ammannaya was conferred the title of 'Swarasindhura'. Senior female role artiste Pundarikaksha Upadhyaya was conferred the title of 'YakshaKaumudi' and renowned artiste Shivarama Jogi was conferred with 'Yakshamartanda' title. In addition, Charlie Chaplin of Yaksharanga, Seetharam Kumar Kateel, who was awarded the Karnataka Rajyostava award recently was felicitated during the event. Financial help by the pratistana was distributed to Sanjeev Sapalya Chende, who is suffering from ailment.

Pulincha Sreedhar Shetty, lawyer and president of Pulincha Seva Pratistana welcomed the gathering and did the introduction. Vote of thanks was rendered by Pratibha Sreedhar Shetty. Mamta Rai Pulincha, Satish Shetty Kodialbail and Satish Rai Hunsoor read the citation. The programme was compered by Dayanand Kattalsar.

The programme ended with a late night trimester Kola of Sri Kallurti Daiva.
