Mangaluru, Jan 15: Devotees of Sri Kshetra Iruvail Sri Durgaparameshwari temple have alleged about two office bearers indulging in irregularities in the temple administration.

Addressing media here on Monday, January 14, one of the devotees Damodar said, "The temple is located in Moodbidri. The Brahmakalashotsava was held in 2007. During this time, locals had showed interest in contributing towards the temple and took a decision to buy 25 cents of land which was in close proximity to the temple. The land belonged to temple priest Madhusudhan Bhat.

“Instead of registering the land in the name of the temple, the two office bearers Bhujanga and Poovappa have registered the land on their name. They are continuing building a pandal in the said land. Villagers blame that tender was not invited for the construction and the funds of the pandal were not made public.

“Now the devotees have got a stay order from the court of assistant commissioner, but still they are continuing the project, which they claim as a private project. Now the matter was taken up by endowment department as this temple comes under it.

"The two office bearers will complete the project as the hearing of the case has been postponed every now and then. The date for the next hearing has been set to December 10, 2019,” said Damodar.
