Mumbai, Jan 14: “Education is life for mankind. Therefore, complexes of day and night schools are not called for,” said veteran hotelier Bharath Bank director Damodar C Kunder.
He was chief guest at the 58th anniversary celebrations of Gurunarayana night high school, Santacruz run by Billavara Association, on January 12.
Association vice presidents Shanker D Poojary, Srinivas R Karkera, honorary chief treasurer Rajesh J Bangera and ladies wing executive president Jayanti V Ullal who were present on the dais presented prizes to winners of the competitions and students who had passed securing highest marks.
The programme began with prayers by female students. School subcommittee executive president Bannanje Ravindra Ameen welcomed the gathering. Association honorary chief secretary Dhananjay S Kotian gave an introductory address introduced the guests and compered the hall programme.
Teachers Mohini Poojary, Hema Gowda, Vimala Shivaraj Patil, Navita S Suvarna, Sunil Patil, student representative Divya D Chavan and others were present. School students presented variety cultural and entertainment programmes in the choreography of Sushma S Poojary. Students enacted a drama ‘ganda hendatiya jagala gandha teedidange’ written by teacher Siddaramaiah Dashamani.
