Bengaluru, Jan 12: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the elevation of current Chief Justice (CJ) of Karnataka high court, Dinesh Maheshwari, as the judge of the Supreme Court.
The fact that a meeting of the collegium presided over by Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, held on Thursday January 10, took this decision, has been published in the Supreme Court website.
As per the rules of the collegium, this recommendation would be sent to the union department of law and justice. The department will then forward it to the President of India with its recommendation. The President is expected to clear the same within a week and issue official orders.
CJ Dinesh Maheshwari had been appointed as the judge of Rajasthan high court on September 2, 2004. He was transferred to Allahabad in July 2014. He was promoted as CJ of Meghalaya in February 2016.He has been serving as CJ of Karnataka high court since February 12, 2018.
