Mangaluru, Jan 9: The department of Nursing Foundation in collaboration with Lions Club Kinnigoli on January 7 organised National Youth Day as an extension activity for the students of St Lawrence Indian School, Kinnigoli.
Over 75 students were the beneficiaries of the programme.
The stage programme commenced with a prayer song followed by a lamp lighting ceremony.
Sr Deepa Peter, head of the nursing foundation, FMCON welcomed the gathering. Lion Dony Leo Menezes, president, Lions club-Kinnigoli was the chief guest. Dr Melwyn
D’Souza, regional ambassador for region V, VI and Lion district 317 D was the guest of honour.
Fr Anil D’Sa, national coordinator of youth ministry under CCBI was the resource person for the programme. Dominic Andrade principal, St Lawrence Indian High school and members of Lions Club-Kinnigoli were also present.
Abin introduced the resource person. The chief guest in his speech stressed on how to minimize the needs and live a simple life. He motivated the students, quoting Swami Vivekananda, 'Everything is easy when you are busy, nothing is easy when you are lazy', and urged them to take care of the resources of the earth by reusing, recycling, and reducing.
Informative sessions and creative activities were conducted for the students of the school.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing competition.
