Las Vegas, Jan 9 (IANS): Dell subsidiary Alienware has entered into a partnership with Los Angeles-headquartered video games developer Riot Games to become the official competition PC and display partner for a number of e-sports events.
Riot Games is the developer and operator behind the popular e-sports title, "League of Legends".
The partnership, announced at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 here on Tuesday, enables both Alienware and Dell to demonstrate their expertise in hardware and technology services to support the rigorous operational logistics for League of Legends, Dell said.
Alienware will become the official competition PC and display partner for the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), as well as in four major international competitions: the Mid-Season Invitational, North America vs. Europe Rift Rivals, the All-Star Event, and the League of Legends World Championship.
Powering the competition behind League of Legends two premier Leagues and four international tournaments deployed around the globe will be a fleet of hundreds of Alienware Aurora R8 desktops paired with "AW2518H 240Hz G-sync" gaming monitors.
Alienware also announced expansion of its partnership with its partnership with Team Liquid expansion.
Last year at CES, Alienware and Team Liquid announced their collaboration on the first Alienware Training Facility.
Located in Los Angeles, the 10,000 plus sq.ft. facility and studio space serves as the US headquarters for the storied e-sports organisation.
As part of the new partnership in 2019, Team Liquid will build second Alienware Training Facility in Utrecht, Netherlands.
At CES 2019, Dell and Alienware also showcased a redesigned PC gaming portfolio.
Alienware unveiled a new "Legend" design to debut in new Alienware Area-51m, which will be available from January 29, starting at $2,549.A
Dell updated its G Series gaming laptops. The G5 15 and G7 (in both 15 inch and 17 inch models) are redesigned to deliver enhanced performance with upscale features in a sleek chassis, Dell said.
