Bantwal, Jan 6: The concluding ceremony of decennial celebrations of Melkar Women’s Pre- university and Degree College were held in the college premises on Saturday, January 5.
Deralakatte Yenepoya university chancellor Y Abdulla Kunhi inaugurated the programme. He said that developing an educational institute in backward area and village level is not easy. “But the college in the leadership of S M Rashid has achieved it. It has provided quality education for girls. As per the saying, if a girl studies, it is equivalent to educating family and society, the efforts of trust president S M Haji educating girls are praiseworthy,” he said.
Former district in charge minister Ramanath Rai released souvenir ‘Dashakadiru’. He said that when everybody gets education and contributes to society, the society can change. “Providing education to girls was the demand of long time. Providing quality education to children is the right of parents and it is the duty of teachers,” he said.
“Women with quality education can have a secure life even when deprived of social justice. Muslim community girls securing ranks and identified in high positions these days is a matter of joy. However, it is unfortunate that boys are curtailing their education for trivial reasons,” he said.
Muslim education institute foundation president Mohammed Beary said that discipline is essential for quality education. “Discipline of students here is praiseworthy. May the institute be identifiable on state level,” he said.
District in charge minister U T Khader speaking during his visit to the college, said that the hard work of S M Rashid Haji for the education of girls is commendable. “I will provide all the possible cooperation to the institute as minister,” he assured.
Mangaluru education enhancement trust president S M Rashid Haji chaired the programme. He said religious education also is being stressed along with academics. “BEd and Shariat courses will be started here in the future,” he said. He explained the way the institute progressed.
Arakare Mitra Academy president Iqbal Ahmed, trustees H Kasim Ahmed, Johar Bava, Mansoor Ahmed, Jedda medical centre president Abdulla Aryapady, Saduddin M Sali, Badruddin Delta, Vartabharathi’s Mohammed Muslim Koppa, H H Cement product’s Gafoor H H, Aboobacker, Jamat Falah Imtiaz and others were present.
College principal Abdul Lathif and teacher Abdul Majid were felicitated. Teaching and non-teaching staff was congratulated. Chief Guest was honoured. Winners in decennial programme were presented gifts. Principal Abdul Lathif read decennial report. Teacher Afroza read the list of prize winners.
