Mangaluru: Votive procession flagged off for Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte feast

Mangaluru, Jan 5: In preparation for the annual feast of Infant Jesus 2019 at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, which is scheduled to be held on January 14 and 15, a grand votive procession was flagged off by Fr Charles Seraao, OCD, Provincial, Karnataka Goa Province at Kaikamba – Bikarnakatte.

Fr Wilfred Rodrigues (superior, St Joseph's Monastery), Fr Prakash D’Cunha (shrine director), Fr Liguory Crasta, along with the Carmelite brothers, Carmelites secular, Ballok Jezu Kutam, Infant Jesus Auto Drivers’ Welfare Associaton, friends, devotees and benefactors of Infant Jesus Shrine were part of the procession and later reached Infant Jesus shrine. The colourful offertory procession witnessed participation of many faithful and comprised of offertory items donated by various donors of the city to be used for the noon meals that will be served on all the novena days as well as on January 15.



Flag Hoisting

The annual feast of Infant Jesus began at Carmel Hill today by hoisting the flag. Prior to it a short stage programme was held, where wellwishers and donors were honored.

Fr Melwyn Noronha, VG of Mangaluru diocese, Fr Charles Serrao, provincial of Carmelites, Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, superior of St Josephs Monastery along with Bhaskar Moily, mayor of Mangaluru and Sabitha Misquith, corporator were present on stage.

Fr Prakash D’Cunha, shrine director compered the programme.

Fr Melwyn Noronha prayed for the success of the festivity at the shrine and then along with the honored guests hoisted the flag. The feast of Infant Jesus will be celebrated in a nine day novena. Masses and prayers will be celebrated throughout the day during the novena days from January 5 to 13. The solemn celebration will be on January 14 and 15.
