Kundapur, Jan 3: "The unilateral behaviour of the president of Koteshwar gram panchayat is objectionable. The members have no confidence in him. It is condemnable that he is not giving up the position of president as agreed after the completion of two and a half years. In addition, he is accusing the members of the panchayat. We will discuss this issue with the leaders of the party and plan to fight legally," said Uday Nayak, vice-president of Koteshwar gram panchayat.
Uday Nayak was speaking at the press conference organized at the press club in the city on Thursday January 3. He further said, "The statement given by the president to the media is far from the truth. There is no proof for any of his accusations. The president should provide suitable evidence and records for the accusations he has made. It is not right to give wrong information to the public.
"In 2015, during the election of the panchayat president, it was agreed that the post of president will be for a period of two and a half years only. Though the agreed period is over, the president is not giving up his position due to the influence of some vested interests. This has caused resentment among the rest of the members of the panchayat. We have not put any pressure on the president on his administration. We have worked unitedly to bring revenue to the panchayat. A survey with regards to the street lights is done and the number of street lights is identified. The place of Kodi Habba is also auctioned in a transparent manner and gave more stress for transparency in administration," clarified Uday.
"The president writes the decisions of the panchayat at his home. We have objected to this but never pressurized him to put his signature here. The president has to provide record with regards to this," concluded Uday Nayak.
Members of the panchayat, Shanta Gopalkrishna, Nagaraja and Ragini were present at the press conference.
