Mangaluru, Jan 2: Renowned orthopaedic surgeon and researcher Dr Asode Ananthram Shetty and well known social activist Krishna Kumar Punja, both of who received Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2018, were felicitated at a ceremony at Nitte University on January 2.
Dr Ananthram Shetty, who is currently the chair of Orthopaedics and director of Research Institute of Medical Sciences, Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom has been associated with Nitte University as an adjunct professor and is a key research collaborator with the Stem Cell Research Centre of the University.
Krishna Kumar Punja has worked extensively in Dakshina Kannada through Sevanjali Trust which is associated with Nitte University for delivery of healthcare to the underprivileged sectors of society.
The chancellor of the University, N Vinaya Hegde, pro chancellors Dr M Shantharam Shetty and Vishal Hegde, vice chancellor Prof (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr M S Moodithaya, director (finance and planning) Rajendra and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
