Belagavi, Dec 31: The police have succeeded in cracking the murder case of Jayashree Kallappa Belagavi (35), an Anganwadi assistant from Gundenatti village, which had come into the open on Monday last. Jayashree, who was living with her young son, was killed, her son was subjected to murderous assault, and his eyes were found to have been gouged out with sharp weapons.
The murder initially was believed to be handiwork of robbers, as gold ornaments on the lady's body had gone missing. But the police now say that Jayashree's younger brother, Ravi Prahlad Badaskar (30), was the culprit. He committed this murder for silly reason. He stands arrested.
Jayashree was murdered on December 23. After the murder came to light,the police began investigation from money angle. Thereafter, they probed the incident from other angles and subjected jayashree's husband, parents and neighbours, to intensive questioning. They then came to know that Jayashree used to be pestered by her younger brother, Ravi, for money. During the questioning they came to know that Ravi used to demand account for the salary she drew every month. When she refused to part with money, he used to doubt her character and fought with her often. Frustrated by this, she had left her parental home and started living in an empty farm house located nearby.
The police said that Ravi has confessed that he had financial disputes with his elder sister. He told them that he also had suspicion about her character. Therefore, he said he entered her house by removing some tiles of the roof, and killed Jayashree who was sleeping.
