Karkala, Dec 31: “Children get value-based education only in Kannada medium schools. Let us not have inferiority complex for Kannada medium schools. Those who have studied in Kannada medium schools have attained high positions. Parents and old students are the pillars of school,” said Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar.
He was speaking after inaugurating the anniversary of Nandalike government model higher primary board school, anniversary of old student’s association and prize distribution programme.
Zilla panchayat member Reshma Uday Shetty said that number of students in Kannada medium is decreasing day by day. “Kannada medium schools will survive only when parents give up the complex of Kannada medium school. The government should also look into their survival,” she said.
Belman Durgaparameshwari temple managing trustee, Vedamurthy Vignesh Bhat blessed the occasion.
Old students Jayanti was conferred with the Nandalike Muttikallu Narayana Shetty award, Srikanth Acharya with Pilaru
Satyanarayana Rao award and Sudheer Kamath and Sudheer Shetty were presented Kudundoor Krishna Shetty awards.
Nandalike grama panchayat president Jayanti chaired the programmme. Taluk panchayat member Pushpa Sathish Poojary, Lions club president Sadananda Shettigar, retired teacher Laxmikanth Bhat, old students association president Rajesh Kumar, honorary president Balachandra Shetty, Vidyavikas committee’s Shashidhar Shetty, school development committee president Ravi and others were present.
