Mumbai, Dec 21: Terrorist-hit structures like the Taj Mahal and Oberoi Hotel along with Nariman House and Leopold Cafe have now become the favourite spots, visited by Mumbaikars and tourists coming for Mumbai Darshan.
The four spots have now been added in a list of 30 other tourist spots.
K Nithin, CEO, Rama Hospitality Services, who has a bus service for Mumbai Darshan says, "It won't be right for us to add these spots into our list. But looking at the demand we are forced to show them. Passengers are very curious to see the places they saw on television," he said.
Others too, are planning to add these places to their list. Iqbal Mulla, treasurer of Travel Agents Association Of India (TAAI), also the owner of a travel agency known as Treasure Tours & Travels Pvt Ltd, Andheri says, "Yes, people are curious and want to visit these terror-hit landmarks. Earlier, we used to show them these places from the outside but now they want to go in. Nariman House and Leopold Café too are in demand; this was never the case," said Mulla.
"We don't mind promoting the four terror spots. Others countries are open in showing places where attacks have taken place, so why can't we?" asked Mulla.
Eric Anthony, manager of Leopold Café, Colaba said, "Our café is turning into a monument, where people want to see the bullet marks left from the attacks," he said.
The narrow lanes too leading to Nariman House, which saw heavy gunfire, grenade explosions and commandos being airdropped, has become a tourist spot.
Moses Joseph, who owns a poultry shop opposite Nariman House, agrees that tourists are visiting Nariman House. "Many of them come to us asking where the firing took place. The Nariman House lane has now become very crowded," he said.
