About EEG (Electroencephalogram)
The Electroencephalogram (EEG) is used to detect electrical activity arising in the cerebral cortex. The EEG involves placing electrodes on the scalp to record the amplitude and frequency of the resulting wave forms. In recent years, digital technology has allowed longer, cleaner EEG recordings that can be analysed in a number of ways and recorded alongside contemporaneous video of any clinical event.
EEG continues to play a central role in diagnosis and management of patients with seizure disorders. EEC now functions in conjunction with remarkable variety of other diagnostic techniques developed over the last 30 or so years. It is a convenient and relatively inexpensive way to demonstrate the physiological manifestations of abnormal cortical excitability that underline epilepsy.
Pro chancellor Srinivas University Dr A Srinivas Rao, dean Dr Udaya Kumar Rao, medical superintendent Srinivas Hospital Dr Salauddin Arif K were present.
