Panaji, Dec 16: Stunning his critics, ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday moved out of his private residence and inspected the work of third bridge over Mandovi river in the capital city.

The CM also inspected the work on bridge over Zuari river, 15 kms away from Panaji.

Parrikar, 63, has been recuperating at his private residence near here since October 14 when he was discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. This is for the first time that Parrikar has moved out of the house since his arrival from Delhi.

A senior CMO official said that the Chief minister travelled from Porvorim to Merces side inspecting the work on the bridge, which is expected to be compled next year.

This is the third bridge over River Mandovi connecting State capital to the rest of the North Goa.

Parrikar also got down from the car and discussed the progress of the bridge with the Senior officials from State run Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation and also the contractor firm Larsen and Tubro, he said.

Later, Parrikar also inspected the work on a bridge on Zuari River at Agassaim village, 15 kms away from here.

The Chief Minister also held a separate meeting with the officials over the construction of this bridge, the official said. Congress has been demanding intervention of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha to restore governance in the State.
