Mangaluru: Sexual assault on four year old - court finds man guilty

Mangaluru, Dec 15: The third additional district, sessions and POCSO special court, found on Friday December 14 that the charge of unnatural sexual atrocity committed on a four-year-old girl by Chandrashekhar alias Rajesh (49) from Kankanady here has been proved. The court said that the quantum of sentence would be announced on
Saturday.

Chandrashekhar, who used to undertake painting jobs, is married and has children. He used to reside at Kakkemajalu in Asaigoly in the past. The girl in question used to visit his home to watch television programmes. During one such visit, on July 23, 2016, Chandrashekhar sexually assaulted the girl. Thereafter, the girl's mother
filed a complaint at Konaje police station, where first information was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was sexually abused. The court examined 15 witnesses in this case. The evidences provided by the victim, medical officer, Sakshi and report of forensic science laboratory proved to be critical for the court to arrive at the said conclusion.

Chandrashekhar, who had been arrested initially secured bail thereafter.

Chargesheet in the case had been filed by the then inspector of Konaje station, Ashok. Judge of the court, B R Pallavi, announced the order. Special public prosecutor, C Venkataramana Swamy had placed arguments on behalf of the prosecution.
