Mangalore, Dec 10: A ‘Coastal Children’s Fest’ will be held at Pilikula Nisargadhama on Saturday January 24. The programme will be organized by Bharati Tourism Development Co-operative Limited (BTDC).
Chief minister Yeddyurappa and P M Narendra Swamy, minister, women and child welfare, will inaugurate the programme.
As part of Indian Tourism Day, students of classes five to ten of rural government schools will be given free entry to the water park, biological park, and boating. A magic show will also be conducted on the occasion, said Konkodi Padmanabha, president, BTDC, in a press conference on Wednesday December 10.
Most tourism departments identify popular places, but BTDC identifies small, beautiful, places and tries to encourage its popularity, he said.
The first 3,000 students will get the opportunity to participate in the event, he said.
BTDC will also provide food free of cost to all participants, said Padmanabha. The total expenditure for the event will touch Rs 8 lac, he said. Bhagwan Das, general manager, BTDC, was present at the press conference.
