Mumbai, Dec 13 (IANS): The four-day automobiles extravaganza, the 13th Autocar Performance Show, featuring some of the best supercars and superbikes from all over the world, was thrown open here on Thursday.
The first Indian to race in Formula 1, Narain Karthikeyan inaugurated the expo at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex amidst a huge crowd of thrilled auto-enthusiasts in attendance.
A record number of renowned global brands including Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Lamborghini, BMW Motorrad, Maserati, Porsche, Audi, BMC, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Jeep, Skoda, Hyundai, Mini, Renault, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Ford, among others, featured.
Among the motorbikes, there are BMW Motorrad, Harley-Davidson, Ducati, Kawasaki, Triumph Motorcyles, TVS Motors, Suzuki Motorcyle India and Motoroyale Kinetic.
Two global brands made their Mumbai debut -- Kia Motors with its hot Stinger four-door and Sportage SUV, while MG Motor provides a glimpse of its model lineup at the show.
Among the supercars lined up for the expo are the new BMW M2 Competition, Audi A5 and RS5, Mercedes AMG E 63S, Maserati GranTurismo S and Ghibli, Volvo S90, Lexus ES 300h.
Some of the new sports utility vehicles on display include the powerful pair of Mercedes AMG G63 and Lamborghini Urus, and other models like Nissan Kicks, Lexus NX 400h, Maserati Levante, Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC40 and Volvo XC90.
A highlight is the Supercar Gallery showcasing Ferrari 488, Aston Martin DB11 and Audi R8 V10, besides Mahindra's M5 Electro, the Formula E Season 5 race car.
For two-wheeler lovers, there is the multi-brand range from Motoroyale, Triumph's Stree Triple RS, Tiger 800 XRx and Bonneville Bobber, Kawasaki's entire Ninja and Versys range, Ducati's Panigale V4 and Monster 795 superbikes.
The Superbike Gallery at the venue features Kawasaki Ninja H2 and Honda CBR1000RR.
Speaking at the inauguration, Autocar India magazine Editor Hormazd Sorajbee said this year's APS features a record number of cars and bikes brands taking part under a single roof for auto lovers.
Over 100,000 car and bike lovers from all over are expected to visit the four-day show which also has other major events in the calendar.
