Byndoor, Dec 7: Scarcity of sand, problems created during widening of highway and incomplete work of fisheries port were referred to in the first people coordination meeting of MP B Y Raghavendra held in Byndoor on Thursday, December 6.

The MP was annoyed due to the absence of mining and geology official who should have answered questions regarding sand mounds, difficulties to remove sand because of them and processes taken up to solve the problems. The MP assured that he will call and talk to them.

There were demands for construction of service road during widening of highway, underpasses in Tallur and Trasi and U turn facilities wherever necessary. As the concerned had spoken to the MP before the meeting, those who raised the questions did not get an answer.

When Venkatesh Rao asked about half done building construction of Hofcom department officer Sanjiv Naik escaped by saying that it is coming under Mangaluru officer’s jurisdiction. Maravante Prabhaker Kharvi said that fisheries port construction has remained half way. “Therefore houses of six fishermen are facing danger and the fishermen are staying in rented houses. The break wall of the port should be completed soon,” he urged. The concerned official said that another 30 crores are required for its completion.

Paduvari’s Ganesh said Paduvari should not be included during formation of municipal council. Deepak Kumar Shetty urged for a taluk hospital. Jadkal Jaison said that twelve families are facing hardship in Jadkal as land is not surveyed. Ganesh M Kharvi urged for Tarapathi bridge. Pushparaja Shetty complained that Sandhya Suraksha beneficiaries have not received money for the last six months.

Tahsildar Kiran Gaurayya, Tippeswamy, district officer Rama Rao and sub divisional officer assured of solving the problems soon.

Earlier Vidhan Parishat opposition party leader Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the meeting. He said that construction of 3,500 houses for those who are in acute poverty have stopped for lack of sand. “The approval will lapse if the work is not completed in six months. It has become difficult to provide title deeds to poor and those who have acquired land because of deemed forest policy. The officials should be practical in their approach,” he said.
