Mangaluru, Dec 4: The golden jubilee celebration was held at Infant Mary’s Church, Katipalla on Monday, December 3. The Mass was celebrated by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru. Parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza, vicar vara Fr Paul Pinto, parish priests who served the parish and others were present. The religious sisters too attended the grand event.
Two plants were planted in memory of the jubilee called jubilee tree and another in memory of the bishop’s episcopal ordination called Laudato Si. During the stage programme all the parish priests who served the parish, vice-presidents, secretaries and the gurkars were honoured.
Bharath Shetty, MLA, was the chief guest, Fr Paul Pinto, Basheer Ahmad and Thilak Raj, corporators, B Adam, president, gram panchayat, Bala, and Saroja, president, gram panchayat, Permude were present.
Bharath Shetty MLA was honoured on behalf of the Christian community of Katipalla.
President Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was honoured by the parishioners of Katipalla on the occasion of being elected the bishop of Mangaluru. The programme concluded with dinner.
