Udupi, Dec 3: Vishweshatheertha Swamy of Pejavar Math has called on the government and the society to work together to uplift Koraga community. He was speaking after inaugurating and blessing Sauharda Family Milan programme held in Koraga community hall, Indrali, Udupi on December 2.
MLA K Raghupathi Bhat said that the progress of Koraga community is possible by separate reservation for the community. “As the community is lagging behind in education and employment, the community should be strengthened financially by providing education and jobs to the community youth. The programme by Raghaveni couple to drive away untouchability is commendable,” said the MLA.
“Untouchability has caused several problems in Hindu society. It has caused Koraga community and other backward class communities to remain away from the society. The programmes such as this can find a solution to such problems,” said Bhat.
