Mangaluru: Podar International School, Unity Hospital hold marathon

Mangaluru, Dec 3: Podar International School, Mangaluru, a marathon themed, ‘All for Mangalore & Mangalore for All, World AIDS Day-run for a cause’, became talk of the town from a week. Podar International School, organised, co-powered by Unity Hospital, on World Aids Day December 1.

Ashfaq Habeeb, executive director of Unity Hospital, assistant general Mangaluru of Podar Educational Network, Karnataka region Samson Roy, principal T Srinivas Raju, administrative officer Nitesh Kumar was cherished to address the gathering. They also highlighted running is good exercise.



This winter morning, with a gathering of around 700 people for the Marathon event, participants were full of excitement and bustling with Zumba and functional activities done by Studio 6 Zuese Fitness Company. The marathon of 10km for men and 5km for women was flagged off by Samson Roy. Men and women marathon began with great enthusiasm.

The programme was hosted by Ashritha Shetty. The participant proved themselves that they run for a cause by ending up from the starting position. Winner of 10km men Prashanth Kumar and runner-up Basavaraj N Godi, winner of the 5 km women Umabhagyalakshmi and runner up Amisha Suvarna were awarded with the trophies, certificates, medals and cash prizes. All participants were awarded with medals and certificates.

The amount collected Rs. 33,100 was donated to Snehadeep, an NGO run by Tabboo for the welfare of the society which takes care of women’s and children especially HIV infected.

Principal T Srinivas Raju winded up the programme by vote of thanks and thanking each and everyone who were the part and parcel of the marathon.
