Kundapur, Dec 1: Journalist, Chandra K Hemmady, who has been arrested under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a minor boy from Kappadi, was on Friday November 30 remanded to three days police custody by the district special court for POCSO cases here.
Chandra had been remanded to 15 days judicial custody on Thursday. After the police sought his custody for further investigation, the judge of the court upheld their request and passed order. His police custody will end at 3 pm on December 3. Byndoor police sub-inspector has been leading the investigation.
After the journalist was arrested, Byndoor police station reportedly has received five more complaints for similar offences. With this, the total number of complaints against him has risen to ten. It is said that more complaints are likely to be filed against him in the coming days.
During police investigation, it was found that the accused was involved with this behaviour since the last four years. Parents of several sexually harassed minor children have been visiting the police station with complaints.
