Ajman, Nov 30: The students of Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, the biggest private medical university in the region established by Thumbay Group, celebrated the 47th National Day of the UAE with pomp and splendor on November 28.
The celebrations, which were held at the University campus started with the UAE national anthem. The chancellor, Prof Hossam Hamdy was the chief guest of the event. Addressing the deans, faculty, staff and students, he said, “I take this occasion to extend our greetings to the visionary leaders of the UAE, as we celebrate the 47th National Day of this great country. We are proud of the UAE’s achievements in various fields, and hope that the country celebrates many more successes in the future.”
The campus was resplendent with hues of green, black, red and white, representing the UAE flag. Performances showcasing the rich Emirati culture and traditions were organized as part of the celebrations. Students performed UAE’s traditional dance as music filled the air. Exciting games like drawing competition, treasure hunt, puzzles, tug-of-war and a special contest by Sharjah Islamic Bank, added to the festive mood.
For the students from over 80 nationalities and staff from over 25 nationalities who constitute the population of GMU, the National Day celebrations were a chance to reaffirm the love for their ‘home away from home’.
