Chikkodi, Nov 28: Prakash Pundalik Jadhav (29), a soldier from Budihal in this taluk lost his life during an exchange of fire between terrorists and the Indian Army on Jammu and Kashmir border. This tragic incident happened on the night of Monday November 26.
The Indian Army executed an encounter in Kulgam and Pulwama districts on Monday night. Three terrorists were killed during this operation. However, Prakash Pundalik Jadhav, who valiantly took part in the operation, was killed.
Jadhav was with the army since the last 11 years. He had joined Maratha Light Infantry in the year 2007 and had since been promoted as major.
Jadhav has left behind his wife, Neeta, daughter, Shravani, mother, Sharada and father, Pundalik. He had married two years back. After visiting his family at his native place during the Diwali festival, he had returned to his base two weeks back, his family members said.
The mortal remains of the martyred soldier will arrive at his native place on Wednesday after which the funeral will be conducted with full state honours.
