Mangaluru Nov 28: "The muhurath of Kannada TV serial 'St Anthonyavara Pavadagalu' (Miracles of Saint Anthony) produced by St Anthony ashram Jeppu, will be held on November 30 at St Anthony Ashram Jeppu," said Fr Onil D'Souza, director of St Anthony's Ashram.
Addressing media here on Wednesday November 28, Fr Onil D'Souza said, "Blessings will be performed by Bishop of the diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha while district in-charge minister U T Khader, MLC Ivan D'Souza, former MLA J R Lobo, producer Asothoma Sadgamaya Ashwin Pereira will be the guests of honor.
"The TV serial on the life and miracles of Saint Anthony will be in Kannada so that people around the globe can view the same and benefit from the devotion of St Anthony. St Anthony Ashram Jeppu is the producer of this serial. Direction and cinematography of the serial is by Mogachi Lahra fame Vincent Fernandes while the script writer is John M Permannur.
"As many as 140 artistes including Kannada artistes Ramesh Bhat and Vinaya Prasad will act in this serial. Shooting is expected to complete by April 2019. The channel in which the serial is to be telecast is yet to be planned.
"St Anthony a true follower of Jesus and committed to his vocation born in the 12th century, preached and performed a number of miracles in the name of Jesus. The phrase '13 miracles' is synonymous with the name Saint Anthony. He is also known as the 'Saint of the impossible' meaning to say that impossible things become possible through his intercession. He is specially invoked when things are lost. The devotion of Saint Anthony has been in existence in Mangaluru for more than a century. There are devotees of Saint Anthony around the world who visit the shrine at Milagres Church and also Saint Anthony's ashram which takes care of 400 destitudes.
Assistant director St Anthony Ashram Fr Thrishan D'Souza, director of the serial Vincent Fernandes, scriptwriter John M Permannur and Lavita Menezes were present.
