Doha, Nov 28: The associatons of various Indian states in Qatar, under the banner of Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), which is affiliated to Indian Community Service Center that works under the Indian Embassy have shown their generosity and kind heartedness by collecting monetray aid for the victims of the recent deluge of Kerala and Kodagu in Karnataka.

All the Indian citizens who are working and residing in Qatar donated generously for this campaign, which was carried out under the guidance of P Kumaran, Indian ambassador to Qatar.

A cheque of Rs 15 lacs, marked for the chief minister's relief fund, was handed over to chief minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday, November 24 by the representatives of ICBF under the leadership of secretary Mahesh Gowda. Mahesh was accompanied by Milan Arun, president of Indian Cultural Association, Aravind Patil, former president of Karnataka Sanha and ICBF, Ravi Shetty, vice- president of Karnataka Sangha and Subramanya Hebbagilu, distributor of Kannada films in Qatar and former vice-president of Kanataka Sangha, Qatar.

CM Kumaraswamy, who spoke after accepting the donation lauded the efforts of the NRI Indians living in Qatar and extended his heartfelt gratitude. He also expressed regret for not being able to meet the representatives on the assigned time due to the three unexpected events that took place in the state in the week.

The representatives who arrived from Qatar expressed their condolences on the deaths of popular actor Ambareesh, senior Congress leader Jaffer Sharief and the people of Mandya who lost their lives in the tragic bus accident.
