Udupi, Nov 28: Team Redrop in association with Lions Club, here held a meeting with likeminded organizations, helping the public at the time of genuine blood requirement. The meeting was held at Lion's Bhavan in the city on Monday November 26.
Dion D'Souza, president of ICYM Udupi diocese, briefed the gathering about the functioning of the app. The app is developed by ICYM of the diocese for the benefit of the people of Udupi district. The design of the app is kept simple so that even a common man can access the app without much difficulty. Initially the app will function as a portal to connect the donor and receiver in the local vicinity. There will be further developments in the app after a period of eight to ten months. The sole purpose of the app is to make the donors available whenever a genuine requirement is posted.
The president requested the gathering for their wholehearted support in creating a strong database. All the members of the various organizations present appreciated project Redrop and contributed their ideas. The requirement of identifying the donors of rare groups is a challenge and the members ensured their complete support in making this initiative a success by registering all the donors in their contact list to the app. The team also suggested publicizing the app in the blood banks of the district and also in the hospitals with the support of hospital administrations.
The date and venue of launching the app was also revealed during this meeting. The app will be launched on December 18 at Kidiyoor Sheshashayana Hall in the city at 5 pm. Esteemed dignitaries from government and non-government organizations along with the people of goodwill will be present for the programme.
The secretary of Lions Club Udupi, Raviraj, on behalf of all the likeminded organizations ensured that they will be committed in helping the team Redrop in this venture. He also appreciated the initiative of young people in social oriented activities and said Lions Club Udupi always supports such activities. Derick Mascarenhas, former president of ICYM, Udupi diocese compered the programme.
