Doha, Nov 27: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), a socio-cultural organization reached out to its community as a noble initiative, organized a blood donation campaign on November 23 at Hamad Medical Corporation Blood Donor unit and witnessed a good turnout of donors. This campaign received an enthusiastic response from its members and community members wherein different nationalities came together to join this noble cause as a holistic service to the community and Qatar.
President Sunil D'Silva welcomed the gathering who attended in big number on a Friday morning in support of this campaign and introduced Mangalurean community Dr Ranjan Maxim Mathias, consultant Anesthesia Hamad, medical corporation and deputy director of Critical Care Al Wakra Hospital who gave a talk on the benefits of blood donation. Shaila Menezes, joint cultural secretary presented him with a flower bouquet.
Dr Ranjan shared some useful information on benefits of blood donation and the importance and need for donating blood in his talk to the gathered audience. He also said, “We get many donors but blood is never wasted and all collected blood is stored and used systematically. Every healthy person can donate blood once again in three months’ time.” He also cleared doubts by answering donors’ questions.
The president and committee members set an example by donating blood and took a good initiative in inviting many of their friends, colleagues, company people to join this drive and witnessed a good registration of 85 volunteers out of which 56 were successful in donating blood after their check-up.
Prominent members from the community and other Karnataka Club president and leaders were in attendance at the campaign. Hamad Medical Corporation then presented Mangalore Cricket Club with a certificate in appreciation of this drive and appreciation certificates to all the donors.
The president thanked all the MCC members, volunteers and donors for their noble deed of saving life through blood donation and for making the campaign a success.
