Udupi, Nov 21: BJP opposition party leader Kota Srinivas Poojary speaking to reporters on Tuesday, November 20, demanded an apology from chief minister H D Kumaraswamy for allegedly having insulted farmers. He requested former prime minister H D Deve Gowda to speak to Kumaraswamy and advise him. “CM’s statements that he will apologise if necessary after calling farmers as goondas and insulting a woman in the crowd were not in good taste. You, as chief minister, have committed a mistake. Therefore, you apologise without conditions,” he said.

“As per sugarcane control board of the union government sugar factories should pay the price of sugarcane within fourteen days after receiving sugarcane. The state government should ensure it. If the payment is not made on time, the farmers should be paid 15% interest. The farmers are not paid support price and the pending dues,” he said.

“Former chief minister Siddaramaiah had said that farmer Vital Halabhavi died of drinking liquor though in fact he committed suicide consuming poison. But you condemned when Vital Halu Bhavi died,” he said.

“You should release orders to pay support price and old dues,” urged Kota Srinivas Poojary.
