Shivamogga, Nov 16: “Even though Congress-JDS coalition government used all the facilities at its disposal and faced the elections, their conspiracy did not materialize in Shivamogga. Former prime minister H D Devegowda had said that he will close south India's door for BJP from Shivamogga. It was not possible for him. BJP won due to intelligent voters and the hard work of activists,” said Shivamogga Loksabha constituency MP B Y Raghavendra on being felictated at Sheshakrishna convention hall.
“As it was by-election, less people exercised their franchise. Therefore the margin was less. What happened now was a preparatory examination, but our concentration should be toward elections in May. Every BJP person should aim to make prime minister Narendra Modi prime minister again.
“I am bound by the development of the constituency. MP's office will be opened near Byndoor guest house in fifteen days. People can submit their grievances there. A meeting of KDP and concerned officials will be held in a week and the speed of development will be increased,” he said.
MLA B M Sukumar Shetty said that expected votes were not received in this election as less people had voted. “Upto 80% people had voted in Vidhan Sabha elections. The voters turnout this time was 59%. Activists should plan now the course of action for the next elections. We have received experienced MP for the constituency. As we will be receiving his guidance for development, it will be possible to work all the more quickly."
