Mangaluru, Nov 10: Three persons were arrested from near Kodikal Cross in the city and 7.1 kg ganja was recovered from their possession by the officials of the anti-rowdy squad of the city central subdivision of the commissionerate here on Friday November 9.
The arrested persons happen to be Kareppa Laxman Sunadoli (50), resident of Mayammana Gundi in Belagavi district, Gangappa Padeppa Madara (39) from Kolar Kurubaradinni Masetti in Vijayapura district and Siddarayappa Kooru Holi (36) resident of Tavaga in Kansageri, Belagavi.
The trio was moving from Vijayapura to Kasargod with a consignment of ganja for selling it there. The police who got information about their movement, raided them and arrested the accused. In addition to 7.1 kg of ganja, three cellphones, two motor bikes and Rs 315 in cash were confiscated from their possession. Total value of items seized has been put at Rs 3,13,315.
The raid was conducted by anti-rowdy squad police inspector, Raveesh S Nayak and other personnel under the guidance of assistant commissioner of police, Bhaskar, deputy commissioners of police, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth, as well as city police commissioner, T R Suresh.
