Sanvordem, Nov 9: “Have feelings of Jesus and be like Him,” said Fr Vital Miranda, dean of Sanguem deanery and parish priest of Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem. Fr Miranda was delivering a homily during the Eucharistic celebration on the conclusion of seminar on Divine Mercy. A day-long seminar on Divine Mercy was organised by the Divine Mercy Centre of the Carmelite Fathers Margao, in collaboration with the Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem for the members of the Divine Mercy Parish/Chapel groups of Sanguem deanery at Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem.
Fr Miranda stressed on the emptiness of Jesus for salvation. He appealed the members of the Divine Mercy to experience the mercy and be merciful to the others. “Let the mercy of God flow from our hearts,” he opined further. Carmelite Br Malvino Alfonso, coordinator of the promotion of the Divine Mercy Devotion welcomed the participants and the resource persons. Dealing with the Divine Mercy in the Old Testament Carmelite Fr Mark Furtado, focused on mercy in the Book of Genesis, Exodus, Historical books, the book of Psalms and the Prophets.
Parables of Mercy were discussed in the group with stress on Divine Mercy in individual life, family life and in the Community. Dr (Fr.) Archibald Gonsalves, Superior of the Carmelite Monastery, Margao elaborated on the theme-Servant Leadership.
As many as 55 participants from the Divine Mercy Parish/Chapels group of Dabal, Colem, Sanvordem, Sanguem, Rivona, Molcornem, Uguem and Vaddem-Curdi participated Teresa Fernandes of Divine Mercy Group of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Dabal and Peter Mascarenhas of Divine Mercy Group of Our Lady of Miracles’ Church, Sanguem expressed their sentiments on behalf of the participants. Fr Ronald Fernandes, assistant to the parish priest, invoked God’s blessings over food and the recipients. Divine Mercy Chaplet was led by Sarika Fernandes, animator of the Divine Mercy Group of Guardian Angel Church, Sanvordem. Fr Archibald Gonsalves rendered the vote of thanks.
