Udupi, Nov 7: Adani Gas Limited (AGL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, is developing City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks to supply the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the Industrial, Commercial, Domestic (residential) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to the transport sector (automotive / vehicular consumers).
Kishore Alva, joint president of Adani Group, who is heading all the projects of Adani entity in the State of Karnataka, informed today that AGL is presently operating CGD networks in Ahmedabad and Vadodara in Gujarat, Faridabad in Haryana and Khurja in Uttar Pradesh covering nearly 3,50,000 House Holds and environmentally clean CNG to over 2,00,000 vehicles.
He informed that Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), constituted under The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Act, 2006, in collaboration with the State Governments is driving the development of CGD networks across the country. PNGRB had called for 9th CGD Bidding for 85 Geographical Areas in the Nation, comprising of 174 Districts spread across 22 States. AGL is one among the successful bidders under 9th CGD Bidding Round called by PNGRB, wherein AGL on its own has won 13 Geographical Areas and in addition Indian Oil Adani Gas (IOAGPL) has won 9 Geographical Areas. Udupi District is one among the 13 Geographical Areas, which has been allocated to AGL.
Alva, further told that the CGD project at Udupi District would completed in 8 years covering Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to 1,10,099 households, 11 CNG retail outlets and 569 kms length steel pipeline. The network tariff is Rs 30 per Metric Million British Thermal Unit (MMBtu). This project in Udupi district will also provide employment opportunities to the locals, he added.
