Bantwal, Nov 7: Leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bhajrang Dal submitted an appeal to the home minister of Karnataka through Bantwal taluk tahsildar and Bantwal ASP urging not to celebrate Tipu Jayanti in the city.
They said that Tipu opposed Kannada and was a fanatic, Hindu temple wrecker, killer and fundamentalist. “Therefore his birth anniversary should not be celebrated and no processions should be held. The programmes scheduled on the occasion should be canceled.
“The decision by Congress government to celebrate Tipu Sultan birth anniversary on November 10 is an insult to the people in the state. Bhajrang Dal opposes it.
“Therefore the government should back down from the wrong decision and cancel the celebrations. If the programmes are held ignoring our appeals, the district administration will be responsible for any untoward incidents,” they said.
VHP district Goraksha Pramukh Ashok Shetty Sarapadi, Bhajrang Dal district convener Gururaj Bantwal, Bantwal Prakhanda convener Akesh Benjanapadavu, Pranam Ajjibettu, Tilak Ajjibettu, Vineet Ganadapadpu, Nithin, Gaurav, Karthik and Akshay were present.
