Mangaluru, Nov 5: The women labourers of Reliable Cashew factory protested at the factory in Shakthinagar here on November 5, for denying minimum wages for the women employees.

Speaking to media, one of the employees Meenakshi said, "The government has raised the minimum wages from April 1 for the employees, but we are denied our minimum wages since April. Also, the promised increment to the labourers has been denied. We have demanded the same from the labour office, but there has been no progress so far.

"The administrative board is only giving us assurance of minimum wages. On October 30 we submitted a memorandum through our labour union and were promised the issue will be resolved before November 2, but so far there is no response.

"We started our protest from November 3 and we have entered the third day. We will continue our protest till our demands are met," said Meenakshi.
