Kundapur, Nov 3: After a car knocked him down in front of Sri Ganesh Silks at Tekatte in the taluk on national highway 66, a pedestrian was killed. The incident happened at about 11 am on Friday November 2.
The deceased has been identified as Subraya Shanbhogue (76), retired divisional manager of Syndicate Bank.
The Maruti Swift car in question was moving at high speed, eyewitnesses said. It was moving toward Kollur temple from Kasargod. After Shanbhogue fell onto the road and sustained grievous injuries, arrangement was made with the help of a local ambulance to take him to hospital. However, Shanbhogue did not recover and breathed his last within sometime thereafer.
The deceased had worked in different branches of Syndicate Bank including Hyderabad and Kolkota. He was involved with creating awareness about environment preservation. He is survived by wife, son and a daughter.
A case about the accident was registered at Kota police station.
