Kundapur, Oct 31: BJP candidate from Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, B Y Raghavendra, addressing a press conference at Byndoor on Tuesday October 30, said that when BJP was ruling and also when BJP MPs including himself were representing this constituency, Byndoor constituency was given added preference by taking action on various issues of this constituency like basic infrastructure, problems of the fishermen, speeding up of national highway works etc. He promised to continue to provide facilities to this constituency even in future.
"A former Prime Minister has been speaking of closing down BJP. He has been trying to match hard work and dedication of patriotic organizations with his tactics like buying votes for money,” he added.
Raghavendra also predicted that the people will teach a fitting lesson to the coalition partners.
Byndoor MLA, B M Sukumar Shetty, said that he had visited the chief minister (CM) and fisheries minister several times along with other MLAs from the coast relating to release of subsidized kerosene to fishermen, and accused the CM of falsely claiming that no one had requested him on the issue. Leader of the opposition, Kota Srinivas Poojary, charged the CM of backtracking from his own promise of allowing sand extraction to begin before October 16. "Although the chief minister orally instructed the officials not to create problems in building of poor people's houses, the deputy commissioner has not been obeying this instruction. Therefore protest led by MLA Raghupati Bhat will continue," he said.
He said that subsidy promised during the period of Siddaramaiah government for loans given to fisherwomen has not yet been released. He accused Siddaramaiah of speaking ill of BJP leaders and MLAs.
BJP Udupi district president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Kaup MLA, Lalaji R Mendon and several other leaders were present.
Kota Srinivas Poojary also addressed an electioneering meeting held at Annappayya Hall, Trasi on Tuesday in which he charged the chief minister of failing to keep his word of solving sand problem before October 16. He charged the Kumaraswamy-led government of reducing subsidized kerosene limit for boats from 300 to 180 litres and charged the government of failing to release funds for development works even after five months of coming to power.
