Mangaluru: Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail celebrates Confraternity Sunday

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 31: As preparation for the annual parish feast of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, the Confraternity Sunday (Compricho Aithar) was observed on October 28 with gaiety and devotion. The entire parish got together in huge numbers on this blessed day.

The Eucharistic celebration began with Fr Boniface Pinto being the main celebrant offered mass along with Fr Austin Peter Peris and Fr Gratian Alvares. In his homily he said that Eucharist is the centre of our Christian life. The Eucharist binds us together in family and at large at the Parish community as one body.

After the mass the Holy Eucharist adorned in a golden coloured tabernacle and mounted on a decorated vehicle was taken in procession through the main road and the faithful followed the procession. The Joy Star band played devotional hymns and the choir and the faithful added sweet voice to the melody. It was a pleasant sight to see the procession with quotes from scriptures, Tablauex from various wards, associations and lighted candles in their hands.

Fr Austin Peter Peres and Fr Gracian Alvares along with the leaders of the wards, associations and youth took initiative in encouraging the parishioners all along the week in their preparation for this day.

After the procession the parishioners assembled to participate in the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The church vicinity looked luminous with both the lightings and cheerfulness of the parishioners.
