Bagalkote, Oct 29: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of cheating Indians and failing to keep up to his promises.
Addressing people in Savalagi village, Jamakhandi, he said Modi has cheated young people on assuring them jobs. “He promised that he will bring back black money to India deposited in banks abroad and deposit Rs 15 lac in the bank accounts of citizens. Has he deposited any money to anybody’s account? Has he paid any money to people in Savalagi?” he questioned.
“BJP members are saying that constitution should be amended or discarded. The democracy and constitution of the country is in jeopardy because of BJP administration. Congress workers were pivotal in bringing India its independence. Our people have sacrificed their lives for it. Besides that, Congress has worked for democracy and society. What has BJP done?” he queried.
“Petrol prices are rising since BJP came to power at the centre. Have farmers prospered? Where are the agents who campaign for Modi now?” he asked.
“Will you vote for those who work or tell lies,” he questioned the crowd. “AICC president Rahul Gandhi exposed the Rafael fighter plane scam. Former union minister Jashwant Sinha and other leaders complained about it to CBI. Therefore, BJP people got scared if the scam will hit their base and removed CBI director overnight. Dalits were assaulted, but Prime Minister Modi said nothing,” he said.
