Mangaluru, Oct 29: A programme to pay homage to veteran Konkani writer Aa Ba D’ Souza, London, who passed away recently, was held at ‘Mata Kripa auditorium’, Gurpur-Kaikamba near here. The programme was organized under the joint auspices of Konkani Lekhak Sangh, Karnataka and Samanwaya, Mangaluru. The chief guest and people in the gathering offered floral tributes and respect to the departed writer.
Entrepreneur Leo Rodrigues, president of the event and nephew of late Aa Ba D’ Souza, thanked the association of Konkani writers for holding the programme. He recollected financial assistance provided by Aa Ba D’ Souza for the education of his nephews and nieces when he reached London after obtaining higher education. On behalf of the writers, Dr Edward Nazreth gave a glimpse of the writings and books by Aa Ba D’ Souza.
Fr Pius Fidelis Pinto, researcher, said that he became researcher after getting inspiration from an article written by Aa Ba D’ Souza that was published in Raknno newspaper. He also spoke on his close association with Aa Ba D’ Souza. He gave a view of the literary significance of Aa Ba D’ Souza, who has written a book on Mahatma Gandhi.
Konkani writers' association leader Richard Moras was present on the occasion. Dolphy Cascia did the introduction and compered the programme. Peter Pinto rendered the vote of thanks.
