Dharwad, Oct 29: An elderly man, who was abandoned by his son on a national highway in Dharwad, died of cardiac arrest at an orphanage on Saturday, October 27.
According to a report on TOI, Vincent Christin was abandoned by his son on the Pune-Bengaluru highway. The locals had seen a young man dropping the elderly man on the highway and speeding away. The locals informed the police and the old man was admitted to an orphanage.
He was admitted to the district civil hospital later and the doctors said that he was suffering from Alzheimer's.
On Saturday, Vincent developed chest pain and suffered cardiac arrest, said Dr Giridhar Kuknoor of the hospital adding that the body has been kept at mortuary of the hospital since there is no one to claim it.
Members of some local Christian organizations had contacted Vincent on Saturday and promised that they would help to get in touch with his family members. But before that Vincent died.
