Mangaluru, Oct 26: The year 2018 is being observed by Mangaluru diocese as a ‘Year of Rosary’ in order to enhance the devotion of rosary among our family members and also at all functions to obtain special graces and protection through mother Mary.
To commemorate this significant year, an exhibition of ‘Rosaries and other articles of Virgin Mary’ was organised on October 21 at Silver Jubilee Hall, Ashoknagar parish.
On this occasion John Vas, member of the co-ordinating committee, welcomed the gathering which was followed by a prayer dance by the postulants of St Joseph’s Convent.
The programme began with lighting pf the lamp by the parish priest, Fr Aquin Noronha OP, vice-president Richard Gonsalves, secretary Isaac Furtado, co-ordinator of SCC Euginia Pinto and postulant mistress of the convent Sr Jyothi while the Parish choir sang the hymn.
Fr Aquin Noronha, thereafter venerated the statue of mother Mary with garland and then officially inaugurated the exhibition arranged by 10 wards, YCS, Dominican Brothers and catechesim children.
The parishioners were requested to visit all the exhibition tables and were served light refreshments.
Thereafter the people from 10 wards, YCS and Dominican Brothers sang Marian devotion hymns while our choir played music.
The parish priest then delivered his message to the gathering regarding the significance of rosary devotion.
