Kundapur, Oct 24: An appeal was sent to the chief minister H D Kumaraswamy by the Taluk Building and other construction workers' union, urging him to find a solution for the ongoing sand issue that is affecting work in the coastal region. The organization has sent this appeal through the Tahsildar and have requested the government to provide them sand in a scientific way.
In the appeal, the union has urged to permanently resolve the sand issue in the district. They have urged the Government itself to take care of the excavation and storage of sand and provide the same at reasonable rates to the public. The union has asked the government to provide compensation to the labourers of building construction for the hardships which they have faced in the last two years due to shortage of sand. The organization asked the government to distribute sand that is available in the district to the needs of the public of the district on first priority.
The union warned the government that they will resort to indefinite strike from November 17, if the issue of non-availability of sand is not resolved by that time.
