Udupi, Oct 23: Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), operating 2 units of 600 MW power plants at Yellur village in Udupi Taluk, handed over a letter of confirmation to Tenka gram panchayat (GP) committing execution of development works worth Rs 85.33 lac under its CSR package during the financial year 2018-19.
Kishore Alva, joint president of Adani UPCL and Aruna Kumari, president of Tenka GP, mutually exchanged the confirmation letter and Kriya Yojana for the FY 2018-19 in the premises of Tenka GP.
Kishore Alva, who handed over the confirmation letter spoke and informed that Adani is having vision of overall development of surrounding villages emphasizing more on Basic Infrastructure facilities. Accordingly, honouring the directions of district administration and GPs, Adani has declared a special CSR grant of Rs 22.73 crore for totally 7 GPs, in which Tenka GP has got commitment for execution of development works worth Rs2.56 crore over a period of 3 years.
Against the earmarked CSR grant of Rs 2.56 crore, UPCL has completed 9 development works worth Rs 1.67 crore involving development of 7 roads, construction of foot over bridge and electrification of roads, Alva told. He also told that works worth Rs 30 lac are in process of execution and soon will be unveiled for the usage of public. Further he informed that the works identified by Tenka GP in its Kriya Yojana for the year 2018-19 would be completed before December, 2019.
Later Aruna Kumari spoke and thanked Adani Foundation for bringing Tenka panchayat under the CSR umbrella. She applauded the vision of Adani for developing the basic infrastructure facilities in the surrounding villages.
