Bangalore, Nov 8: As if in retaliation to the 10-day deadline set by Karnataka Milk Federation(KMF) chairman, ex-minister and son of JD(S) supremo Revanna to the government on Tuesday November 3 to settle the milk price hike issue and warning that a unilateral decision would be taken by convening a meeting of all the milk unions in the state, 21 officers of the cooperative audit department landed at the KMF headquarters to conduct a detailed audit of the KMF accounts since the year 2001 on Thursday November 6.
This follows a government order issued on Thursday, asking the said department to audit the overall oerformance of KMF.
The government recently had revoked its August 2006 order that made it mandatory for the KMF to get audited through a reputed chartered accountant and vesting the audit powers of the KMF with the cooperative audit department.
It may be recalled, that Revanna has not been allowed by the government to affect a price hike of two rupees a litre. He has blamed the government for interference in the KMF administration. The government had also ordered a Lokayukta inquiry into issues pertaining to the public works department, earlier headed by Revanna.
Revanna on his part, commented that arm-twisting tactics can not bog him down.
